Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code

East Avenue Girls Who Code is Starting Monday August 17th! From 2:35 pm to 3:30 pm. In room 26.

WHAT IS A GIRLS WHO CODE CLUB? Girls Who Code Clubs are meant for students to join our community of supportive peers and role models, and use Computer Science to change the world. When you join a Club, you will be able to learn from fun and simple online coding tutorials, build community through interactive activities, and learn about inspiring role models.

  • Each month we will have a theme. You may come to every meeting or just the month that interests you. We will only be supporting students who are working on GWC projects. Students will be asked to leave if they are off task or disruptive to others.

  • Some topics we will cover are:

    • Web Design

    • Cybersecurity

    • Loops, Conditionals and If/Then Statement Coding in Scratch

    • 3D modeling

    • Intro to Robotics

    • Ciphers and Encryption

Here are some examples of projects from Girls Who Code.

The mission of Girls Who Code is to close the gender gap in tech. Girls Who Code is also dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Their goal is to increase not only the presence of women in tech but to increase the presence of other under-represented groups.

All East Avenue Students who wish to join Girls Who Code are encouraged to come to our first meeting to find out more.
